6 men and 3 women are appearing in court charged with identifying online the rape victim of Ched Evans.
The law gives victims of rape and other sexual offences lifelong anonymity.
3 Sheffield men are among those who have been charged and the others are from Wales.
Evans was found guilty last April of raping a 19-year-old woman in a Rhyl hotel room.
He had admitted having sex with her, but the woman told the jury she had no memory of the incident and the prosecution said she was too drunk to consent.
The footballer is due to appeal against his conviction at the High Court in London on Tuesday.
