A man from the Caerphilly area who was convicted of the manslaughter of a six week old baby is to have his prison sentence reviewed.
32 year old Michael Pearce from Nelson was jailed for nine years, but the Attorney General's Office said it had received around 10 complaints about the length of his prison term. It will now review the decision.
Alfie Sullock sustained fatal head and abdominal injuies while being cared for by Pearce. Last month a trial at Newport Crown Court heard how Alfie's mother Donna had left her son with him for her first night out since giving birth.
Pearce denied both murder and manslaughter but a jury found him guilty of manslaughter after 36 hours of deliberation.
A decision on the length of his jail sentence is expected later this month.
