A Southampton driving instructor has been jailed for 32 months for carrying out sexual assaults on two of his teenage pupils.

Stephen Mason, of Blendworth Lane, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault of two female victims, aged 17 and 19. The 59-year-old was sentenced to the prison term at Winchester Crown Court and placed on the sex offenders' register for life.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: ``Mason, who was a driving instructor, took his victims to car parks and remote locations during their lessons where he sexually assaulted them. Two of the offences took place in Southampton and one took place in Winchester between the beginning of January 2015 and February 18 2015.''

Detective Constable Heidi Boyd said: ``Mason abused the trust placed in him by these young women and their parents; he took advantage of their youth and placed them in a vulnerable situation so he could achieve sexual gratification.

``These young women have been incredibly brave throughout the entire process and I would like to commend them for coming forward. We have specially trained officers who work with victims of sexual offences to give them the support that they need. We would encourage anyone who has been the victim of a sex offence who has not already reported it to the police, to come forward and speak to us in confidence and receive the support they may need.''

Meanwhile a 58-year-old driving instructor with the same name based in Romsey has told us he's now getting abusive phone calls from people - it's not the same person.
