School Bus Crash On The Isle Of Wight

Police were called to Victoria Grove in East Cowes shortly before 1pm today (29th March)following a collision involving a coach.
The coach was taking children home from school when it was in collision with a tree and a bus shelter. Nobody was standing at the bus shelter at the time.
Police believe the driver of the coach, a 55-year-old man from Sandown, suffered a medical episode at the wheel.
He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, where he is awaiting treatment. His condition is not life threatening.
Of the 29 children – all aged nine and 10 - on board, six were treated for minor injuries. All parents of children involved have been informed..
There were no serious injuries.
The road was closed for a short time to allow the emergency services to reach the scene.
