Men Surround Woman In Portsmouth Street

Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of a suspicious incident in Eldon Street, Portsmouth at around 9pm on Thursday, November 24.

A 22-year-old woman was walking home from work when she was approached by three men outside Eldon Court. One of the men stood in front of her blocking her path, another grabbed her wrist as she tried to walk past, a third man was sat nearby.

Fortunately an unknown member of the public stepped in to assist the woman and allowed her to get home safely.

The three men were of Turkish appearance. The two men who made contact with her are described as late twenties and wearing black formal jackets. One was of a large build, the other slim build.

PC David Merryweather said: “This incident has left the woman feeling very shaken and concerned about what could have happened if the man had not stepped in to assist.

“We are keen to trace this man who came to the woman’s aid as he may be able to help us identify those involved. He is described as a tall and well built man who was listening to music. This was a brave act which the woman and her family are extremely grateful for.”
