It happened between 2.30 and 3am on Tuesday April 24 at Millbrook Road East adjacent to Central Railway Bridge.
A 23-year-old local man was walking along the bridge towards Shirley Road when he was approached by two men. They asked for money and threatened him with a metal bar.
A fight took place and the two men made off empty handed.
The men are described as:

Muscular build
Squinty eyes
Bald or shaven head
Wearing a dark grey hooded top
Man 2

Detective Constable Chris Bradford is investigating: “The man suffered injuries to his back, as a result of being hit with the metal bar. Nothing was stolen as he managed to fight the attackers off.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who saw two men fitting these descriptions in the area-or did you see them running away from the scene of the attack?”
