He was left with a fractured eye socket after he was set upon in an unprovoked attack by two men.
It happened at about 8pm on Saturday (28/08) in Mansell Road East, Southampton.
The victim, a 22-year-old Winchester man was walking along the road with his 19-year-old girlfriend when they were approached by the two men.
The offenders made offensive remarks to the woman before one of them punched her partner in the face, fracturing his eye socket.
The victim was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
The offenders were white men, both aged around 16 or 17 years. One was of a skinny build with short blonde hair and freckles on his face. He was wearing a red polo shirt with white and black
stripes which were horizontal. The other had medium length hair which was either blonde or light brown and may have been wearing a black top or jacket..
DI Gary Towse of Shirley CID, said: “This was a cowardly and unprovoked attack on a couple who had been out for the early evening with friends..
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this attack or have any information about it to contact police as soon as possible.”
