Arrests Made After Eastleigh Arson Attack

Police tell us a device containing accelerant and a wick has been found under a car, set on fire in Eastleigh.

The owner injured his hand trying to put out the flames, on Desborough Road last night.

Four young men, aged between 16 and 19, have been arrested.

The man who alerted the householder left the scene without leaving his details. He is not suspected of starting the fire.

Police are appealing for this man to come forward as he is an important witness.  

He's described as white, 6 ft 1, aged 45 to 50, shaven head, of medium build and was wearing jeans and a brown, white and yellow tracksuit top.

A forensic examination of the scene is being carried out by specialist arson investigation officers and staff.

CID is leading enquiries to identify those responsible for the arson.

There is no information to suggest a wider threat to the community. Police are treating this arson as a targeted attack based on the investigation to date
 
The four people who were arrested are being questioned in police custody.
