A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a car crashed into a wall.
It is thought the silver Vauxhall Astra had been signalled to stop by police in Glenmavis Road in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, just before the collision.
It crashed into the wall in Commonhead Street at around 6.20am on Friday.
The 33-year-old man driving the car and a 30-year-old female passenger were both injured.
The woman is in hospital in Glasgow where staff describe her condition as critical while the man was treated for minor injuries.
Inspector Darren Faulds said: "This was a serious crash which has left a woman in a critical condition. We are looking for any information which can help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, to contact road policing officers based at Motherwell on the 101 number. ''
