Union Calls For Votes At 16

A leading teaching union has backed the campaign to lower the voting age to 16.

EIS say that young people should have the power to decide on the future of their own country.

The First Minister, Alex Salmond, is also in favour of lowering the voting age from 18 to 16 for the Independence referendum.

The vote is expected in 2014.
