Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a "cowardly, unprovoked attack'' which left a 15-year-old boy with a serious injury to his face.
The boy was assaulted in the street in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, by a group of youths after he and his friend left a shop.
The assault took place on Laurel Drive at about 4.30pm on March 21 but was not reported to police until last Tuesday.
In an appeal for witnesses, police said the attack was "cowardly'' and "unprovoked''.
Police said on Monday two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Three youths, aged 15, 15 and 14, have been arrested in connection with the incident. It is anticipated they will appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.
"Additionally, a 14-year-old boy has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the incident.''
