Woman's Body Found Near Morpeth

Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on a country lane near Morpeth.

Northumbria Police said the body was found at 5.25pm on Thursday and closed a section of the A196 between Dunces Houses and Shadfen about a mile to east of the town of Morpeth

A post-mortem examination was held last night, but the results were inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.

Police said they were not looking for anyone in connection with the woman's death.

The stretch of road between Dunces Houses and Shadfen has now reopened.
