People who've lost their jobs following the closure of the SSI steel plant in Redcar are being urged to get along to a jobs fair in the town this morning.

1,700 workers were made redundant with the collapse of the steel firm.

Jobcentre Plus and partners are delivering the jobs fair from 10am at Redcar and Cleveland Community Heart.

A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions said a number of employers have already come forward offering potential jobs.

They say:
"We still have hundreds of highly skilled and motivated people looking for work..

So, if you are a local employer, please support these fantastic workers by joining others and offering a job to someone from our community if you can.

Please send any job offer details to dorothy.bowmaker@dwp.gsi.gov.uk"

The jobs fair runs from 10am to 4pm at the Community Heart.
