It's thought fresh investment into transport projects in the region will create thousands of jobs.

Chancellor George Osborne's announced a raft of measures, aimed at boosting Greater Manchester's economy.

Among them, the electrification of the Transpennine Express line - which'll cut times from the city to Leeds to just 45 minutes.

Link roads for Manchester Airport and Crewe have also been given the green light.

It's also been revealed the city will work on the Atlantic Gateway Project - which will redevelop the Port of Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal.
