Body Found In Manchester Canal

The body of a man has been found in a canal in the gay village area of Manchester

Police are trying to identify the body which was found near Canal Street in the city centre on Saturday afternoon.

Police described the man as white, slim and 5ft 8in tall and thought to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

Officers have launched an investigation to try identify him.

The man was wearing a grey V-neck T-shirt, black jeans and white Lonsdale trainers with a dark blue stripe when he was recovered from the canal.

Det Insp Julian Flindle said: "We have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this man's death, but we need accounts from any possible witnesses, and we also need to urgently establish this man's identity."
