Books of condolence are being opened in the city where he grew up.
The 77-year-old passed away after a short battle with cancer yesterday.
Sir Terry Wogan was awarded an honorary degree from Leicester University in 2010.
He told the audience about his gift from people in the city after he'd first visited.
Sir Terry was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in July 2010, acknowledging his long association with the University through his fan club 'Terry's Old Geezers', or 'TOGs'. On several occasions, he attended the university in Oadby for their annual conference.
