Body Found After Fire: Derby

The body of a man has been found at the scene of a fire on Great Northern Road in Derby.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire in a disused building on Great Northern Road during yesterday afternoon (Tuesday October 8). After the fire was extinguished fire fighters began a search of the premises.

During the search of the building the body of a man, aged around 30 years old, was discovered. Police think they know who he is but have told Capital his name can't be released yet.

The cause of his death and the cause of the fire are not known at the moment.

Police and the fire service have started a joint investigation.

A 39-year-old man was arrested late last night on suspicion of arson. He will be questioned today by detectives at St Mary’s Wharf police station.
