A Sandwell man has been charged with the murder of a Romanian woman who was reported missing more than a week ago.
Lydia Pascale, 26, had been in the UK for more than a year, living at homes in Smethwick and Foleshill.
She was last seen on November 19 2014 in West Bromwich.
West Midlands Police say she is still missing, however detectives are now treating her disappearance as a murder inquiry and are working with Romanian authorities to keep her family informed of developments.
Matthew Cherrington, 32, of High Street, West Bromwich, was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of her kidnap, but was charged with her murder on Sunday 31 November.
He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court and was not required to enter a plea during a brief hearing.
He was ordered to be held in custody until a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday.
A second man, aged 37, remains in police custody, also arrested on suspicion of murder.
