A woman's been sexually assaulted in a Southampton park.
Police are investigating a report that a 26-year-old woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault by a man in Lakelands Park, Freemantle, during the early hours of Sunday 20 April.
Hampshire Constabulary Detective Inspector Jim Park, who is leading the investigation, said:
“This was an isolated incident that should not cause people living in the Freemantle area to be alarmed.
“Enquiries so far have established that the woman had travelled in a car from the Empress Road area of Southampton earlier the same evening.
“We're appealing for anyone who saw a silver or blue convertible BMW car at either of those locations on Saturday night (April 19) into Sunday morning (April 20).”
