Vandals Target Portsmouth Dog Kennels

Staff at Portsmouth dog kennels have been left counting the cost after brand new fences were torn down, causing hundreds of pounds of damage.

On both Thursday and Friday evening, fencing was ripped down.

Clive Rankin, built environment manager said:

"This is clearly mindless vandalism and staff at the kennels have been left distressed by the incident. We're going to have to find £500 from somewhere to pay for the damage, but we'd rather spend this money on care for the dogs rather than have to replace brand new fencing. "It also makes staff working at the kennels feel uncomfortable staying there late in the evening.

"The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage but if anyone has other information please get in touch."

Approximately 50, three metre high planks, were removed, also causing damage to the remaining fence.

Witnesses or anyone else with information are asked to contact Fratton police station by phoning 101. Mini-Com users can call the police on 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
