Tributes To Biker Killed On A272

Friends have paid tribute to motorcyclist Scott Lewis who died in a collision on the A272 on April the 12th 2011.

The 32-year-old from St Peter’s Road in Petersfield, was riding his black Kawasaki between Petersfield and West Meon Hut, when he was involved in a crash with a car. He died at the scene.

Paying tribute, Scott's younger brother Oliver, said:

“The last time I spoke to Scott I was telling him that I planned to get a mountain bike very soon, and as he had been riding the wheels off of any thing he could get his hands on since before I can remember I asked him for some advice - or maybe he started offering me help because that’s what a great man he was.

“In September of 2009 and 2010 Scott and his boss Jon Belfield did a bike ride around the Isle of Wight and in the two years – cycling more than 70 miles each time - raised just under £7,000 for prostate cancer charities.

“Scott was looking forward to cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats this September, the proceeds of which he also planned to go towards prostate cancer research.

“As my older brother, Scott looked after me my whole life and so his enthusiasm for riding, his extra-ordinary approach to life and the wonderful experiences we shared will stay with me forever.”

Life-long friend Steve Stidolph, 29, from Petersfield said:

“Scott was one of the most unique people I have ever met in my life.

“From a very young age he took me under his wing and helped to make me the man I am today.

“Scott was an amazing friend and supported me time and time again and never expected anything back in return.

"He was the life and soul of any party but also the most caring friend you could ever wish to meet.

“The world is a darker place without him but his magnificent presence and outrageous spirit will remain with all that knew him forever.”

In the 16 years I have worked with Scott, he has always been ready to share his knowledge freely, he has always made a positive impact on all those he meets and when you are in the ‘trench’ the person you want to look round and see with you is Scott – you cannot teach what he had!

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision itself or who saw either vehicle prior to the crash. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Road Death Investigation Team, at Eastleigh, quoting Operation Olivewood, on 101.
