Teenager Dies In Horror Train Fall
A teenager has died after falling in front of a train at Bedhampton Station near Havant.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said:
"BTP officers were called to a level crossing near to Bedhampton railway station on Tuesday, 22 March after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
"BTP and Hampshire Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to police at 8.06pm.
"Paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service also attended but the man, who is believed to be 17-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
Inspector Mick Morriss, of the British Transport Police, said they were not treating the incident as suspicious:
"We have recovered the body of a young man who was seen falling from the platform on to the track. The only eyewitness was the train driver – who is very shaken but unhurt.
"The man went under the wheels of the train and is believed to have been killed instantly. Our priority now is to discover his identity and break the terrible news to his family."
The train involved was the 19:45 Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo service.
