Armed Robbery At Nationwide In Fareham
Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Nationwide Building Society in West Street, Fareham.
It happened at 11.36pm on Tuesday, December 13, while security guards were at the ATM.
The robbers, who were all wearing dark coloured clothing, forced the two security guards to the floor while they used a number of tools to smash their way through the window of the building society. They made off with a large amount of cash.
Detective Sergeant Ross Toms, said:
"This was a particularly nasty incident where the two security guards were forced to the floor and intimidated by the offenders.
"Fortunately they were not injured but, understandably, they have been left very shaken by what has happened.
"We believe there were at least three offenders involved in this incident, who made off in a dark coloured, possibly dark blue, BMW 1 series or 3 series estate.
"I am especially interested in speaking to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious involving a dark coloured estate before or after the time of the robbery.
"I also need to speak to anyone who has any information about number plates being stolen, as they may have been used to the swap the identity of the offender's vehicle.
"We are keeping an open mind as to whether this incident is linked to two other cash in transit robberies, one in Havant on November 25, and one in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh on November 24."
Anyone with any information should contact Fareham CID on 101.
