A 41-year-old man charged with attempted kidnap after teenage girl approached on way home from school in Portsmouth.
Extra patrols are going to now be taking place in the area over the next few days.
Here is the latest statement from Hampshire Police
Detectives have this morning (Friday, October 7) charged a man with attempted kidnap with the intent to commit a sexual offence and possession of a bladed article.
Roger Seath, 41, no fixed abode, has been charged and held on remand.
The charge comes after police received a report of a suspicious man following and trying to stop and talk to a 14-year-old girl on Kent Road just before 4pm on Wednesday, October 5.
Our advice to the public remains the same.
Stay alert but not alarmed. Remain vigilant and remind children and teenagers of stranger danger. Report anything or anyone suspicious to 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
