Hampshire Police are trying to find out who chucked the entire contents of a dustbin off a bridge on to the M27 in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 29th December).
Two lanes were closed on the eastbound carriageway near the Fareham turnoff at junction 9.
Some drivers even had to swerve to avoid all the rubbish.
Police tell us they reckon it was chucked off Swanwick Lane bridge at Swanwick at around 1.10am.
It took Police and Highways teams more than a hour to clear it all up.
Sgt Wayne Voller of the Fratton roads policing unit said: "Drivers faced a real danger. I myself saw a car and a lorry swerve violently to avoid driving through the rubbish. There is no doubt this was done deliberately."
Anyone with any information should contact Sgt Voller on 0845 045 4545.
