Ringwood Woman Killed And Five Hurt In Crash

A Ringwood woman's died and five other people have been injured in a head-on crash.

At around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 June) a two-car collision between a black BMW 3 Series and a blue Ford Fiesta took place on the A31 near Wimborne in Dorset, between the Lake Gates and Merley Bird roundabouts.
 
The driver of the Fiesta - a 49-year-old woman from Ringwood - died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.
 
The front seat passenger of the Fiesta, an 18-year-old Ringwood woman, was taken to Poole Hospital with serious injuries.

The rear seat passengers of Fiesta - a 19-year-old Alderholt man and a 16-year-old Ringwood man - are both being treated at Southampton General Hospital with very serious injuries.

The driver of BMW, a 24-year-old Dorchester man - and the front seat passenger, a 21-year-old Dorchester man - are both being treated at Poole Hospital for serious injuries.
 
A stretch of the A31 between the Lake Gates and Merley Bird roundabouts was closed last night while collision investigators examined the scene.
 
A number of enhanced medically-trained police officers were also sent to the incident.
 
Inspector Matt Butler, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to or at the time of the collision to please contact me on 101.
 
“I appreciate the road closures have caused considerable congestion in the area and I would like to thank motorists for their patience.”
