Random Attack On Man In Fareham

Police in Fareham are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Gordon Road on Saturday, November 26.

At about 7.40pm a 53-year-old man was walking along the road when he was approached by a group of four to five people. This group launched an unprovoked assault on the victim, kicking and punching him several times.
 
The offenders then left the victim lying in the road and carried on towards Trinity Street.
 
The victim was taken to Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises to his face and a potentially fractured eye socket.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
* All white
* Main offender in group appeared to be a woman aged in her mid-thirties wearing a white headscarf around her head.
 
Detective Constable Pete Lavin said: "This is a mindless, unprovoked act of violence committed by a group of thugs on a lone individual, that has left the victim with potentially serious injuries to his face. 
 
"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault, or has any information about those who perpetrated it, to come forward as soon as possible to provide us with more details about the offenders that can help us find them and bring themto justice."
