Portsmouth Man Arrested After Woman Threatened In Attempted Robbery

A man from Portsmouth has been arrested after a woman was threatened with a metal tool in Christchurch.
At 8.30am on Friday 9 May, Dorset Police received a report of an attempted robbery at the Nationwide cashpoint on the High Street.
A local woman in her fifties had just withdrawn some cash when a car pulled up alongside her. A male passenger jumped out and threatened the victim with a metal object similar to a tyre iron.
He demanded she handed over the money - however, she refused. The offender got back into the car which drove off at speed in the direction of the Priory.
A 51-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.
