Police Start Anti-Social Behaviour Campaign

With the Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking the start of a busy summer filled with many public events in addition to the school holidays, police in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will be placing additional focus on tackling anti-social behaviour again this summer.

This year, the force’s anti-social behaviour campaign will run from June until early September. Safer Neighbourhoods teams will be working with residents, partner agencies and volunteers to ensure everyone can enjoy the summer safely.

Assistant Chief Constable Laura Nicholson said: “During the summer months we usually see a rise in anti-social behaviour as people spend more time outside in parks, town centres or at one of the many public events taking place.

“We will be carrying out targeted patrols to combat anti-social behaviour. We have improved our working practices to ensure we identify vulnerable and repeat victims more effectively, and we will be working particularly closely with Neighbourhood Watch areas across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to tackle those issues that affect people’s quality of life.”

Although people of all ages become involved in anti-social behaviour, parents in particular are asked to keep an eye on their children during the school holidays to avoid them becoming involved in anti social behaviour.

Residents are urged to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour to 101 so that resources and efforts can be targeted effectively.
