Police at Southampton are appealing for information from anyone who saw a racially-aggravated assault in Graham Road.

Between 9 and 9.30pm Friday 16 August, a 47-year-old man was walking in Graham Road, towards Derby Road.   He passed a large group of men on the same side of the road, but walking in the opposite direction.

One of the group turned to the man and asked "Are you foreign?" The man said he was and continued walking.

He was punched to the side of the face, knocking him to the ground.  When he got up, again he was punched and fell to the ground.

The victim said there were about 10 men in the group, all white.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has information about it is asked to contact PC Claire Sheehy at Southampton Central on 101 or ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
