Police Hunt Cigarette Thieves
Detectives in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at a Co-op store in Witts Hill, Southampton.
It happened sometimes between 2.15 and 2.55am on Thursday April 26. Four burglars broke in through a window in the front door and it’s thought they left via the same door and also a rear fire door.
They were seen by a witness dragging bags out of the shop thought to contain the stolen cigarettes. It’s thought they were bin bags of some sort, possibly the sort used for recycling.
Only cigarettes were stolen in the break-in. They were worth several thousand pounds.
Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at around the time of the break-in or anyone with information about the burglary to contact them.
They would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered cheap cigarettes for sale.
They are asked to call Detective Constable Janine Bradley at Bitterne CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
