Police Investigate Afternoon Sex Assault In Southampton

Detectives are investigating after a 45-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Southampton city centre in the middle of the afternoon.
She was walking through the subway near the Premier Inn in New Road sometime between 3.20 and 3.40pm on Saturday (16 August) when she stopped for a moment to pick up a gym ball she had dropped.
A man then came up to her and sexually assaulted her over her clothing. He made off after she threatened to call the police.
The man is described as: White, aged 30 to 40, 6ft tall, medium build with what is described as a dark brown buzz cut hairstyle and a pale white complexion. He was wearing grey knee length shorts and a grey t-shirt. He had a foreign accent.
The victim has been left shocked and worried about what happened to her.
