Pedestrian Injured By Motorcyclist

A man has been 'seriously injured' after being hit by someone driving a motorbike in Southampton.

Police say about 3pm on Monday, October 3, 2011, a pedestrian was seriously injured in West End Road, Bitterne, Southampton.

The 40-year-old man was walking near the Sainsbury's store when he was struck by a motorcycle which then made off leaving the man with serious head injuries.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or may be able to help in identifying the bike or rider.

Sgt Glen Barham of the Roads Policing Unit said:

"This is a particularly nasty incident where, for whatever reasons, the bike rider has left the scene. I would urge the rider to get in touch."

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.
