Mystery Over Man's Broken Jaw

Southampton police are investigating how a man came to end up with a broken jaw while on a night out in the city.

The 40-year-old man was in the Buddha Lounge in Bedford Place with friends on Friday, December 21 when at about 11.30pm it's known he fell to the ground near the entrance. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance where it was discovered he had a broken jaw.

Officers are trying to establish if the man was assaulted or it was an accident. The victim at this stage is unable to remember. He is now back home recovering from his injury after having to undergo an operation on his jaw.

Detectives are releasing CCTV stills of a group of men they think may be important witnesses.

It's believed the men saw what happened and are important witnesses and detectives would like to speak with them. They or any other witnesses are asked to contact Detective Constable Patrick Coughlin at Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
