Man In Wheelchair Robbed At Cashpoint

Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a 34-year-old man was robbed by a man as he left a cashpoint.

The 34-year-old had just been on an early morning visit to the cash machine at the Esso petrol station on Northam Road at 5am this morning Tuesday, June 14, when the incident happened. He had withdrawn some money to pay his carer and also bought some goods, he then started wheeling himself back home.

He paused in Northam Road next to the bus stop near the garage to put his money away and a man came up to him and asked him for a cigarette. The victim turned towards him and was punched in the face and the man took the £210 he had just withdrawn from the cashpoint from his hand.

The robber is described as:

-Black

-aged around 30

-5ft 10ins tall and slim.

-He had short, afro style hair and wore a beige top and jeans.

-He was riding a dark coloured cycle. He also wore a chunky silver bracelet on his left wrist.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen what happened or seen anyone hanging around suspiciously in the are that matches the description.
