Detectives have released CCTV footage following a fire which destroyed two caravans in Southampton on Christmas Eve.
At around 11.55pm, two caravans at the Kanes Hill Caravan Site on Botley Road caught fire.
A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman who were inside one of the caravans escaped without injury.
The other caravan was not occupied at the time of the blaze.
Detective Inspector John McGonigle from Southampton CID said:
“At the moment we are keeping an open mind about the cause of this fire, but one of our lines of enquiry is whether it was started deliberately.
“A man was seen near to the caravans just before the fire started and we would like to speak to him as he may have information that can help us. He is pictured in this CCTV footage - do you know who he is?
“We're also trying to trace any drivers who were travelling along the A27 West End Road past the junction with Botley Road between 11.30pm on Christmas Eve and 12.30am on Christmas Day, or travelling along St Johns Road towards Hedge End. Did you see anything? Can you help?
“Fortunately both occupants managed to escape unharmed but the consequences could have been much worse. Please, if you have any information and can help, please contact us.”
Anyone with information about the incident, or who can identify the man in the CCTV image, is asked to call Southampton CID on 101 quoting Operation Marker. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
