Police are appealing for information after a 30 year old local man was robbed as he walked through East Park, also known as Andrews Park, at around 11am on Friday, January 21.

He was confronted by three men, one asked him for a cigarette and money and he was then punched a number of times in the face. While this was happening, one of the men went through his jacket pocket and stole £175.

The man suffered bruising to his left eye and swelling and a superficial wound just below his right eye.  He did not require medical treatment.

His assailants are described as

White

All aged in their 30’s

All of medium build

All approximately 5ft 11ins tall

One was wearing a grey hoody, One a black hoody and One a dark blue hoody

Only one male spoke, he had an English accent

No other distinguishing features were noted

Prior to the incident, the man had visited a chemist shop in St Mary’s Road and also made a cash withdrawal from a Cashpoint inside Tesco’s Express in St Mary’s Road. Police are not ruling out that the man’s assailants may have seen him make this withdrawal and afterwards followed him into the park.

If anyone saw these three men in the area before or after the incident, or witnessed the robbery, they are urged to contact the police.
