Detectives in Southampton are investigating after a 73-year-old man was robbed of his winnings as he walked back to his car from a casino.
The man had a total of around £2750 on him when he left the Mint Casino in Terminus Terrace after cashing in his chips.
He walked back to his car with his wife with the money in a back pocket along with his cash card.
As he went to open his car which was in the Castle Street car park facing towards Threefields Lane a man came up behind him, stuck his hand on the pocket and ripped it. The man removed the cash and card and ran off. It happened just before
10.30pm on Saturday, May 21.
Police believe the victim was followed from the casino by the robber who had noticed he had a large amount of cash on him.
The robber is described as: Black, in his mid 20s, 5ft 8 inches tall, medium build, light coloured hooded top with the hood up and black trousers and shoes.
Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident or thinks they may have seen the man following the couple or after he ran off.
