A man's died after his car overturned into a ditch north of Winchester.
Hampshire Constabulary received a call shortly after 7.30am this morning (Thursday 2 April). The crash happened on the A303 near Micheldever.
The road's expected to stay closed eastbound - between the A34 and M3 - until this afternoon. The A303 has been identified as one of the UK's busiest roads during the Easter getaway this weekend.
Two people were travelling in the car: a male driver and a female passenger.
The man died, and the female passenger has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesperson said:
"Police are in the process of tracing and contacting the man's next-of-kin. Therefore, we're not in a position to formally identify the deceased driver at this time.
"The A303 eastbound remains closed between the junctions with the A34 and the M3.
"This closure is expected to stay in place this morning (Thursday) while officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) complete an examination of the scene."
