Police are investigating what led to a man being run over on a busy Southampton road.
At just after 5.35pm on Monday 16 June, police were called to the northbound side of The Avenue near the junction with Winchester Road.
A 26-year-old man was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, following a collision which also involved a blue Daewoo Kalos.
Officers had to close all four lanes of The Avenue (north and south) to traffic initially for a full forensic examination of the collision scene. One southbound lane was re-opened at the earliest opportunity.
The 26-year-old man remains in hospital today (Tuesday 17 June) for treatment to his leg. The 60-year-old female driver was not injured.
Anyone who saw what happened or spotted the pedestrian or vehicle involved prior to the collision is asked to contact PC Stuart Roberts at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the website http://www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/do-it-online/online-forms/message-for-officer.html
