A 52-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a man found dead inside a house in the heart of the New Forest.

Officers were called to a house in Foldsgate Close, in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, just after 7pm on Thursday (10th March) and discovered the 54-year-old, who's now been named as Steve Pass.

A post-mortem has revealed he died of a single stab wound to the chest.

Michael Hanlon, who's from the Lyndhurst area but has no fixed address, has been charged with murder. He appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning where he was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday (15th March).

Mr Pass was unemployed, unmarried and had no children. His parents have released a statement paying tribute to him: "Steve was a very much loved son and losing him in such tragic circumstances is devastating for us."
