Man Critical After Crash

A man is fighting for his life at Southampton General after being hit by a car on the outskirts of the New Forest.

Police said the 59-year-old pedestrian from Burton was hit by a Renault Clio being driven by a 28-year-old woman, also from Burton.

It happened at 9.45pm on the B3347 Salisbury Road, north of the junction with Stoney Lane in Winkton.

The man was left with life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General.

The driver of the Clio was unhurt.
