Man Attacked Outside Winchester Pub

A man has been left with a fractured face after he was attacked outside a Winchester pub.

It happened after the 49-year-old got out of a taxi near the First In Last Out public house on Wales Street at around 12.20am on Sunday, February 24.

Two men started shouting and then one assaulted the man, leaving him with abrasions to his face and a black eye, as well as cracks in the bones around his eye.  He attended the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment and was referred to a specialist at Southampton General Hospital.

PC Francis Vasko, said: "I would like to speak to any members of the public, local residents or patrons of the First In Last Out pub who may have witnessed the assault.

"If you have any information please get in touch with us and tell us what you know in confidence."

Two men, aged 28 and 30, both from Winchester, have been arrested on suspicion of assault occassioning actual bodily harm and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.  They are due to return on April 10.
