An investigation's underway after parts of a body were found washed up on a shoreline by a dog walker in Southampton.
Police have sealed off part of the foreshore at Weston, Southampton, Hampshire, following the discovery at around 8.25am yesterday (08/12/13).
It is not known whether the remains are male or female, Hampshire Constabulary said. They have been removed to a hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place later.
Local missing persons records are being scoured as police try to work out the identity of the dead person, a police spokeswoman said.
She added: ``Whilst there is nothing at this time to indicate this is suspicious, officers will keep an open mind until results of the post-mortem are known and whilst inquiries continue.
``Part of the foreshore will remain cordoned off whilst the area is searched. It will be reopened as soon as possible.''
