Witness appeal after Netley woman hit by car that didn't stop.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a women was hit by car that failed to stop as she crossed a road in Netley.

It left her with a severely broken ankle which has had to be operated on. If the operation isn't successful it may leave her unable to walk properly. Initially it was thought to be more minor until further medical tests revealed the extent
of the injury.

The 26-year-old victim had just been in the Co-op on Victoria Road when she crossed the road between two parked vehicles sometime between 11am and 11.20am on Tuesday, November 8. As she went across the road she was hit by a Silver Vauxhall
Astra type vehicle. It failed to stop and made off down Chamberlayne Road and then into New Road.

The car suffered damage to one of its wing mirrors in the accident with the casing coming off. This has since been recovered by police.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident. They are also appealing directly to the driver to come forward as they believe the driver may have just panicked at the time.
