Gosport MIU Shut Due To Break-In

Minor Injuries Unit in Gosport has been closed today - Thursday 12th April - due to break-in overnight.

Due to a break-in over night at the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Gosport War Memorial Hospital, the service is unavailable for use for the rest of today, Thursday 12 April 2012.

We are working closely with Hampshire Constabulary, and hope that the centre will be allowed to re-open tomorrow Friday 13 April.

Isabel Gaylard, Head of Nursing for Emergency Medicine at Portsmouth Hospital says: "We are extremely disappointed that this break in to the unit has meant that there is a disruption to this valued service. It is our aim to re-open the MIU as soon as possible for the public."

If you are a resident of Gosport and attain a minor injury today, then we recommend you come directly to the Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.

This can include injuries such as fractures and breaks, or breathing difficulties.

Alternatively you can call NHS Direct (0845 46 47) to speak to a trained nurse about your condition, or seek advice from your local pharmacist or GP.
