Footage Of 'Bonnet Driving' Released
Hampshire police have released CCTV footage of an 18-year-old woman driving with people on her bonnet in a town centre car park as a warning to other drivers about the dangers.
Officers were alerted by CCTV operators to the incident, which took place at about 9.20pm on March 20th.
The operators reported seeing a black Renault Clio car being driven around Victoria Road car park in Fleet with people hanging on to the bonnet.
Anna Griffiths, aged 18, of Kintbury Close, Fleet, appeared at Aldershot Magistrates Court in May, and pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.
She was disqualified from driving for 15 months and has to take an extended test in order to get her licence back.
She was also ordered to comply with a 12-month community order and complete 180 hours of unpaid work. She was also ordered to pay £25 court costs.
PC Dan Lehec said: "This should serve as a warning to anyone who thinks it's ok to play around in car parks with their vehicles.
"This incident could have had very serious consequences if someone had fallen off the car and been injured.
"We regularly patrol car parks and are assisted by the CCTV operators who can report any dangerous behaviour to us. This sort of behaviour is not acceptable and anyone caught doing it will be prosecuted."
