Fatal New Forest Crash - Driver Arrested

Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision involving a silver Vauxhall Insignia and a red Vauxhall Astra on the A35 at Holmesley.

It happened shortly before 10am on Sunday June the 17th.
 
The Astra was travelling towards Lyndhurst and the Insignia towards Christchurch when they collided head-on.
 
The driver of the Astra, a 61-year-old woman from Christchurch died at the scene. The front seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Lee on Solent, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
 
The driver of the Insignia, a 52-year-old man from Southampton sustained minor injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital as a precaution.
 
Police are appealing for anyone who the crash or either vehicle prior to the collision to call Sergeant Andy Lynch at Hampshire Constabulary?s Road Death Investigation Team on 101, quoting Operation Armel.

Officers want to hear from the driver of a mid-to-light blue Volvo estate which was driving along the A35 at the time.
 
A 52-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
