Family's Tribute To Isle Of Wight Biker
Police on the Isle of Wight have named a 45-year-old motorcyclist who died following a collision at Calbourne Crossroads on Wednesday 16th March.
Andrew Parr from Cowes was travelling towards Newport on the B3041 Calbourne Road when he collided with a Citroen C3 being driven by a 72-year-old East Cowes woman.
He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he later died.
Paying tribute, Mr Parr’s family said:
“Andrew had a great zest for life, participating in sport diving, sailing, parachuting, surfing and hiking. He also swam the Solent
for charity, and enjoyed playing guitar (very loudly).
“He worked for Neutrik, and then became a factory manager at Patricks Engineering. More recently he spent some time as a lecturer at the Isle of Wight College, before moving to GKN Aerospace at a project team leader pioneering fuel saving turbine blades.
“Andrew, the much loved son of Rose Jeffery and Robin Parr, brother to Tony, David, Nigel and Michael will be sorely missed by all his family and all who knew him. He was also adopted dad to Olly Williams.”
Anyone with any information regarding the crash, or who saw either vehicle prior to it, is asked to contact PC Bob Hammersley at Shanklin Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Crossley.
Alternatively, call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
