Fake Olympic Goods Seized In West Sussex

Nearly £1,000 worth of fake Olympic goods has been seized from a shop in West Sussex.

Trading Standards found things like mobile phone covers with Olympic branding as well as counterfeit Monopoly board games.

There are now concerns there could be more fake goods like these out there, particularly in the run up to and during the games, which start later this month.

West Sussex County Councillor Christine Field, the Cabinet Member for Public Protection, says: "People when they go into a shop want to have confidence that they're buying a quality product and they're paying an appropriate price for it.

"They don't want to be ripped off. They don't want to have inferior goods and as an authority we want to protect them."

People are urged to contact Trading Standards on 0845 40 40 506 if they believe someone is selling counterfeit goods.
